My name is Jesús Diestre and I release my compositions under the alias “Muted Symphony”. I was born in Zaragoza, a city in the northeast of Spain, a wonderful place to visit with thousand years of history.
Music has been part of my life as long as I can remember. Thanks to my older brothers I grew up listening to the best music of the ’70s and ’80s, like Genesis, EL&P, Yes, Oldfield, Peter Gabriel, Tangerine Dream and many others.
I started studying classical piano at 12 and played in local bands for a while. After my formal education finished, I realized that I had the potential to make a living by creating music. I started composing my own music.
My creations are eclectic. My musical knowledge draws on a multitude of influences, ranging from baroque music, to early 20th century music, to minimalism, to certain kinds of electronic music, new age and even non-western music. These words may describe the music, but they do not label it. My goal is to write compositions that have integrity; a story, a thread, an emotion, and try to appeal to people positively and emotively while maintaining my distinctive voice.
Over the last few years I have produced six self-edited albums available on the main digital platforms: Opus One (2019), VD (2019), Intra (2020), Piano Diary (2020), Mercury (2021), and the latest one Portrait (2023).
That led me to build the website you are currently on. I developed it myself in WordPress with Elementor Pro. This is a visual, drag-and-drop website builder plugin with a live frontend editor, that helps you create a high-end design without having to write a line of code.
Music has been a driving force, an inspiration and a comfort in difficult times. This has allowed me to walk through life with humility and a better understanding of the world.
